How to Organize Your Day

Are you often forgetting what you need to complete for the day? Do you forget when you have something scheduled? Do you sometimes accidentally plan two events at the same time? Do you feel unorganized? Then keep reading!!!!

Here is a 5 ways to keep your day organized:

1. Have a Plan

Every morning have a game plan for what you plan on doing for the day. For example, get gas before work, reply to all emails, get a white shirt for tomorrow, pick up pizza for dinner, e.t.c. Whatever your plans may be just think about them in your head, but if you're likely to forget write them down, or type them somewhere. Reminding yourself of all your plans before you start your day will help you be prepared!

2. Make a To-Do List

To-do lists can be used for several reasons. One reason is it's great way to show how much you've accomplished or still have left for the day. Throughout the day we complete tasks, and gain new tasks. With gaining new tasks, we often feel like we're getting nothing done. Which is why being able to cross off things on our to-do list helps us feel more accomplished.
Another reason to-do lists are great is they help organize our random thoughts. Most of the time when I personally am busy working on a task, I start to think of other things I want to get done, and a great way I remember those last minute thoughts is to write them down on a to-do list.

Lastly, you can use a to-do list to prioritize your day. Adding most important things first, or making columns on your to do list such as, most important, needs done by tonight, get done by next week, least important, e.t.c.

To-do lists are super easy to make, you can use post-it notes, paper, or you can always find free printables online! Here is a link to a website with multiple free to-do list printables: https://www.printabletodolist.com/

3. Calendars

One of the most effective ways to keep organized is using a Calendar. There are so many different types of calendars out there, wall, desk, or fridge calendars, mini and large calendars, monthly and weekly calendars, and even the calendar on your phone! Don't be afraid to have more than just one calendar!

As soon as you make a plan you should immediately add it to a calendar. If you use a phone and paper calendar, it is extremely important that you add all events on both calendars so you never forget an event. A big mistake people make is not putting all their events on all their calendars.

4. Reminders

Your phone can be very helpful to remind you. It is a great idea to set up reminders on your phone if you're prone to forgetting or procrastinating. Most phones come with a reminder app, but if your phone didn't there is plenty of other reminder apps that you can download.

Using your phone to remind you gives you the ability to set an alarm at what time you want to be alerted to do something. Or the reminder apps can also be used as another type of a to-do list.

5. Color Coding

Color Coding is a great way to differentiate your tasks/events. You can use color coding in your calendars by making events/organizations certain colors. For example use your schools color for school events, use your works logo color for your work events, and so on. You can use color coding in your to-do lists or daily plans either the same way you use it for a calendar, or use red for most important things. Using red makes it seem more alerting and you will get the red items done first.

There isn't a set way to color code in organizing, so make it your own and color code in a way that is feasible to you!
